Your reservation may be cancelled if payment is not received when due and payments already made withheld based upon the cancellation penalty schedule outlined below. Travel documents are sent 2 - 3 weeks prior to travel.
Cancellation or Change by You
Acceptance of changes is at the discretion of Canadian Travel Abroad and is subject to administration charges. If rooming requirements are altered due to cancellation of one or more passengers, the passengers still travelling must pay the applicable rate for the accommodation to be occupied. If you must leave the tour early, regardless of reason, Canadian Travel Abroad does not refund the cost of the unused portion of your trip. No refunds will be granted for unused services. Cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations received more than 8 weeks prior to departure will be subject to a penalty of $300.00 per person plus the nonrefundable portion of air ticket. Exception - for Russia we must receive notice of cancellation 10 weeks prior to departure or the full amount will be non-refundable. Cancellations received 8 weeks or less prior to departure are 100% non-refundable. Please refer to your invoice for specific non-refundable amounts.
Cancellation or Changes by Us
Cancellation of all or part of your trip is unlikely but for reasons beyond our control it may be necessary. We reserve the right to cancel or change all or part of your vacation but will endeavour to advise you as early as possible. In the event of cancellation or a major change (change of destination, departure or return more than 24 hours), we will offer an alternative or you may cancel and receive a full refund. You must notify us of your decision within 48 hours of our notice to you. We reserve the right to cancel a departure and offer an alternative departure should there be an insufficient number of participants to make the tour viable. Should a participant elect not to travel on the alternative date, a full refund of the amount paid to us will be made. Canadian Travel Abroad Ltd. is not responsible for any other individual arrangements affected by our tour cancellation.
Insurance
Travel insurance underwritten by RBC is available at additional cost to persons up to 85 years, for reimbursement of penalties caused by cancellation of your trip due to injury, illness or death. Coverage is also recommended for emergency medical expenses, baggage insurance and accidents. Once paid, the premium is non refundable. A signed waiver will be required if insurance is declined. Travel insurance is characterized by very specific and precise wording, which deals with benefits and the conditions that will exclude coverage. Read your insurance documents carefully and call if you have any questions.
Prices
Rates are in Canadian dollars based on double occupancy (unless otherwise noted). Additional charges for airport taxes are shown separately. Prices are subject to change without notice. In the event of any change beyond our control, including but not limited to increases in the price of fuel, currency fluctuation, or increases in government taxes, Canadian Travel Abroad reserves the right to surcharge passengers. If there is an increase of more than 7%, the customer may cancel for a full refund unless the increase is a result of retail sales tax or goods and services tax. No price increases are permitted after the customer has paid in full.
Travel Documentation
Passengers must travel in possession of a passport that is valid for a minimum of 3 months after planned date of return. For some countries the minimum is 6 months and the passport should have sufficient blank pages for visas and immigration stamps. Canadian Travel Abroad can provide visa application forms and assistance when required. A service charge will apply to cover administration costs and courier fees. A photocopy of your passport is necessary to confirm reservations for travel to Russia. For participants holding passports other than Canadian, please check with your local travel agent regarding entry requirements for the country visited. Canadian Travel Abroad cannot be held responsible should you be denied entry to any country. Entry to another country may be refused even if the required information and travel documents are complete.
Operators Responsibility
We arrange travel services with hotels, transportation companies and other independent parties operating beyond our direct control. We cannot be responsible for the acts or omissions of these parties. Canadian Travel Abroad Limited will not be liable for any loss or damage, injury or death that occurs as a result of government actions, terrorism, acts of God, late arrivals, missed connections and other factors beyond our direct control. The liability of Canadian Travel Abroad Limited for any loss, damage or injury, whether physical or mental, arising from its own acts, omissions or negligence is limited to the price of the services purchased. The right is reserved to change itineraries and designated hotels if reasons beyond our control arise. If we become aware of a change in the standard of your booked accommodation or of a delay or advancement of over 24 hours in transport arrangements prior to departure, you will be notified and given 48 hours to advise us of your desire to cancel the tour with a full refund. Otherwise, you will be considered to have accepted the change(s). Please bring any health or mobility issues to our attention at the time of booking. Canadian Travel Abroad and their agents reserve the right to accept or decline any participant who may, in their sole judgment, require care and attention beyond that which can be provided. The right is reserved to withdraw all or part of any tour should conditions warrant and to make such alterations in the itinerary as may be found necessary for the safety of the tour members.
Accommodation
We try to ensure that the information in our brochures is as accurate as possible. However it is printed several months in advance and the hoteliers or other authorities can make changes. Pictures and descriptions in the brochure and on our website are representations and not a guarantee that everything will be exactly as described or operational year round. Expect to pay extra for use of facilities such as tennis courts, sauna, safety deposit boxes, etc. Regardless of flight arrival or departure time, most hotels have a check-in between 1pm – 4pm. A request for a specific room allocation is at the discretion of the hotel and may be subject to additional charges if it is an upgrade. We will do our best to accommodate special requests, however they are rarely confirmed in advance and we cannot be held responsible if such requests are not fulfilled.
Consumer Claims
Living standards and practices at the destination and the standards of conditions there with respect to the provision of utilities, services and accommodation may differ from those found in Canada. Canadian Travel Abroad Limited recommends that before booking you should obtain travel information reports on countries of interest from Foreign Affairs Canada or the U.S. State Department. If you should have cause for complaint during your holiday, please contact the hotel management or our local representative by telephone or in person, so that they may attempt to resolve the situation locally. Failure to inform neither the hotel nor our local representative of your concerns will preclude your right to pursue a claim against us. In the event that a problem can not be resolved immediately, consumers are requested to provide us, within 15 days of return, written provision of details.
